Swiss National Day HistorySwiss National Day celebrates the founding of the Swiss Confederation in 1291. In 1921, the three forest cantons Uri, Schwyz, and Unterwalden, signed the Federal Charter to form a treaty. Swiss people celebrate by hosting family gatherings, barbecues, and parades. Swiss National Day occurs each year on August 1st.
