Hiroshima Day HistoryHiroshima Day commemorates the bombing of Hiroshima which occurred in Japan during WWII. This day also serves to raise awareness about nuclear disarmament around the world for world peace. On the morning of August 6th 1945, an American bomber plane dropped the world’s first atomic bomb over the city of Hiroshima. About three days later, another bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki. Both bombs combined took the lives of over 200,000 people due to the initial blast and exposure to radiation. Hiroshima Day is celebrated annually on August 6th to commemorate the day the first bomb was dropped.
