Facts about Emmy Awards

• The Emmy Awards for 2023 were postponed until January 2024, due to the Writer's Guild of America strike. The winner for Best Drama Series went to Succession. In 2024 the award for Best Drama Series went to The Crown.
• The Television Academy was founded by Syd Cassyd in 1946. The goal was to advance the art and science of television.
• The only First lady to receive an Emmy Award was Hacqueline Kennedy, although it was not particulary an Emmy Award. She received a Trustees Award, honoring unusual achievements, for the hourlong tour of the White House which aired in 1962.
• Anyone can submit their work for consideration if they are qualified, although there's a fee for doing so. Television Academy members are allowed two free entries.
• Accountants from Ernst & Young check the ballots by hand.
